Community Organizing/Activism

In addition to writing, JLove devotes much of her time to creative activism. JLove’s work, broadly speaking, is the development of inspired dialogue within and between diverse communities. In practical terms, she promotes the work of artist/activists who share with her the “joy of resistance” and supports the cultivation of young women's leadership in this country. JLove represents individual artist/activists and coordinates large-scale projects that educate and agitate through their artistry, including:

We Got Issues!

We Got Issues! Believes that the visions, songs and battle-cries of young women have the power to preserve, heal, and protect. By bridging art and activism, We Got Issues! awakens a new kind of feminine centered leadership.

We Got Issues! is a project which creates a sustainable network of young women in private and public leadership, especially those from the most marginalized communities—immigrants, women of color, working poor, and queer. We Got Issues! offers “rant-fests,” which are interactive workshops designed to discuss women and power in a creative and transformative environment.

JLove is Director of Programming and co-producer for the We Got Issues! Performance Piece. This creative activism performance was drawn from rants collected from almost 1,000 young women across the country, which were crafted by a group of politically passionate young women writers, performers, and designers to create a multimedia production that speaks to the concerns of our generation, the present and future voice of democracy at home and abroad.
